Doing the Math
Let's see.....100,000 people have signed the guest book at Villa Kathrine over the last 20 years. That's about 5,000 a year, or an average of 13-14 a day.
Wonder how many of them are Quincyans or residents of the local region?
I'd say the critic has a point.
On the other hand, the Villa is a fantastic landmark that deserves preservation and promotion. But having a visitor center at a major intersection by the interstate...say, where 96 crosses the interstate, or somewhere near the Broadway interchange....makes a lot more sense.

What would be the goal for daily visits?
Ask how many visits they get at the Hannibal CV&B, located right on the road to the historic bits.
Granted, it's not as ideally located as it was before they built the Mark Twain bridge...
It either needs to be on a main thoroughfare OR there need to be a LOT more signs and directions to the Villa.
I think the notion of a secondary office near the interstate on Broadway is a good idea.
Note as well: the friends of the Villa got the designation because they were the only group that was interested enough to do the paperwork. It could conceiveably be up for grabs if someone wants to do the work.
Personally, I think Mr. Staff has a point.
I'd second his opinion, but I wouldn't want the "icy cold" reception.
Is there even a sign on 24 coming into Quincy from either direction?
I should think there should be one as you come up the hill with a huge arrow pointing down 57 toward the Villa, as well as one before you get to the turn onto the Bayview Bridge, pointing on down 3rd Street.
The Visitor's Center doesn't do us a lot of good if no one knows it's there.
Sheeeit, let me post up in dat Valla Kathryn, I be pimpin ho's out dat mf-er.
Those grounds and that building have hosted some outstanding wedding receptions!
There's a potential revenue stream there. I don't have info to do the cost/benefit but there's something there.
Actually, most Quincyans don't give a dman if anybody visits. Most of them just want to suck what money they can and run to Flroida or AZ. Expect them to do some work for something worthwhile? Be kidding!
Somebody woke up on the grumpy side of the bed this morning!
Hubert hasn't had an original idea in years. I think he was awaken by accident and mumbled something. There are quite a few people doing a good job to make people aware of the Villa.
