Did I Miss Something?

Or was there no story in the local media about the closing of the Blue Onion Blues Bar?

On another business-opening note, the Whig reported yesterday that Starbucks is hunting for a location. Too bad it's down Broadway. Obviously Quincy's comment that a downtown Starbucks would be a big benefit is very true. Unfortunately for that idea, Starbucks tends to go where the traffic is--in a college town or a downtown where there's lots of pedestrian traffic, they go downtown, but in a town where there's a busy main drag (Bloomington, for example) they just drop in on some high-traffic corner and add to the vehicular congestion.

If I were a local coffee shop owner, I'd have some tough choices ahead.....and this weekend's auction of the Jitter Bean's equipment and furnishings would sound like Marley's chains coming up the stairs.

Starbucks also appears in malls. Maybe thats where they'd go rather than a freestanding building. Personally I don't like the taste of Starbucks- pretty much everything they have is a dark as night roast with zero acidity. Whenever I'm in Q-town I like to go to that MugShots joint downtown. Pretty nice in there.

Did the Police Chief approve this ??

Does Starbucks have a city address ?

Was a meeting held for all the other coffee places to voice their opposition on this ??

Can we trust Starbucks to serve scalding hot coffee to the blind and disabled elderly ??

Mug Shots rocks. So does Coffee on Broadway. I will support the local venues before going to the overpriced national chain.

You are correct about the Blue Onion closing and coverage. Stay tuned.

Mugshots did not close. And why would it be Starbucks' responsibility to show up downtown, and help revitalize it? Hell, if I owned Starbucks, I wouldn't be putting a store in downtown Quincy.

"MugShots closed" must have been one of the same people that was at the anit-war rally in Washington Park as reported by the Herald Whag

I expect 747 was thinking of the outfit that was in the MugShots space prior to MugShots...

Hey, let's not forget the new Java Java Java, supreme lattes!
Decent food too.

Downtown Quincy still rocks, just standing on the historical ground of Washington Park is satisfying.
