The intensity of feeling doesn't make any sense to me, but then I've never been much of a sports fan.
But it obviously means a whole lot to ninety percent of Quincyans, and the Herald-Whig covered the hell out of it.

Ninety percent?!? Where'd you get that statistic? Seemed to me like the local media made a bigger deal out of this than it was. I mean, there were still tickets left at gametime.
The gym was still packed though.
Great game.
Of course it was hyped, what do you expect. The teams hadn't played in 35 years.
And it was worth the hype too--an excellent game!
