Hmm.....let's see......
The school district needs to cut another $2 million.
Well, it's going to cost $750,000 to fix the turf at Flinn Stadium, so they say. So I'm guessing that not doing that is a good starting place.
But if they don't fix the turf....where will the football team play? How about nowhere?
Canceling that program would save tons of money in salaries, travel costs, equipment, maintenance, etc.
To keep a balance going between sports and arts, an equal amount should be cut from the music/theater/drama department.
There. That's a start.

If I were the administration I would cancel Blue Devil Basketball...if that wouldn't get a referendum passed I don't know what would
Yeah, but the point is not to get a referendum passed, but to find the $2 million. The voters have spoken repeatedly, so now the board is going to have to take them seriously and cut the bucks. Cutting basketball would be rightly seen as cynical manipulation of public sentiment.
The money comes from two different funds. You can't take the money from the lease levy and spend it on anything that has to do with a teacher salary.
Really? Why should I believe Lovelace? Just because he says it? He also said the tort fund use was legal. Hmmm...Let's see....how old are those Lovelace boys? About ready to play football for Daddy's Blue Devils? It seems the sky's the limit when it comes to whatever Curt Lovelace wants for his family...whether it's a job with no other "qualified" applicants, or artificial turf for his sons to play football on...what's next for this egomaniac?
Dude, attacking someone personally is not offering a solution. Get off the rant and propose something.
Note to anon 3:37....I wasn't suggesting to take the 750K and use it elsewhere; I was suggesting not spending it on the turf because the football program would be cut. Other uses of the stadium, such as graduation, could still take place because they don't need such a perfect surface as football.
How about we cut administration salaries and maybe a few positions like we do in the real world??? The lease levy is like a credit card with huge line of credit that circumvents the voter’s approval. There are all kinds of little ways the educational crowd hides money or the true cost of items.
Some of the people on the board and in the system just don't get it yet. To even think of doing anything with the football field at this time shows just how out of touch they really are.
new blog in area bitchboutit try it out
