I don't get it
Why mention that two of the plaintiffs in the Niekamp suit are African-American? What difference does that make? They're not all African-American, and it's not as though the school board dispute has had anything to do with racial issues. It's a very odd addition to the story.
And in the companion story, Niekamp is quoted as blaming the "defendents." Um, isn't he the defendant?
Both pieces seem produced and edited in haste.
The online story headline is another cutie, too: "Fourteen file Lawsuit filed to have Niekamp removed from Quincy School Board."
Slow down, guys, proofread and think.

I guess the Whig must have thought they were getting a little uppity...yeah...no racial problems in Quincy AT ALL.
That's just ridiculous and stupid.
I think there must be some sort of racial component to it...why else would Melissa Holden and Claire Safford be a part of the group?
I can imagine several reasons other than racial ones why they might be a part of the group.
But if there is a racial component (and nothing in any news report I've read indicates that there is), why not just say so? It just seems like a weird reference.
You would never see a reference like "Joe Schmo, who is white" unless the relevance of that reference was spelled out immediately afterward. Perhaps it got edited out but the initial reference was left in inadvertently. Just a guess.
