Meanwhile, on the next block, some honest-to-goodness real businesspeople are buying a nice piece of real estate downtown and fixing it up for office space.....and without loans from the city or outrageous claims on eBay.

How do you know they are not getting a loan from the city?
Well, now, that's a good question. Wasn't mentioned in the news article, so I assumed they weren't. Perhaps I jumped to an incorrect conclusion there.

Unfortunately the buyers of the school do not have a good reputation for maintaining their properties in attractive condition. They promise they will work to keep it and the area nice, but it we will have to wait and see.
