Question for the 'sphere

OK, there is one Quincy practice that I have yet to figure out.

When I come to a stoplight, it often occurs that a car will be there, stopped a good 20 to 25 feet behind the white stop line at the intersection, and sometimes even behind the sensors implanted in the pavement.

Why the heck do some people stop their cars so far back from an intersection? I don't get it. It can't be fear of the lane-cutting left-turners (of which there are many), because I see people do this in the right lane as well as the left.

I call that the "Q" , people in the Q just can't drive . Toss in a dash of Mizzou drivers and it is a recipe for road rage and seat belt tickets

I've never seen that here, and I drive a lot around town.

Where does this happen? Not downtown, apparentlly.

14th and Maine has always been notorious for this going North and South.

It really doesn't matter. None of the fucking sensors in the pavement work anyway. The left turn arrows come on when there is no one there to turn. This obviously points to another piece of shit at the city not doing his job. Now they want to put another inefficient light at 5th and Broadway.

Dude, go back to bed for another half hour. Maybe you'll feel better.

I can understand why they feel the need to put in a traffic light at 5th & Broadway, they should just move the one down from 6th. That's too much in a row.

That makes sense to me.

If you're going to curse, if you really feel it's necessary, at least use your name so everyone can know who you are and avoid you in the future.

As for the initial subject, I don't notice people doing this either. Someone mentioned 14th & Maine, but that's a school crossing-guard interesction and I'm 99% sure it's not sensor-activated. With the number of kids crossing there, I'd stay back a bit too.

One thing I noticed in Quincy was the confusion when the double-turn lanes were installed at several bigger intersections. Lots of close calls from people not staying in their lane on the turn, almost side-swiping the person next to them.

I could go on and on about other traffic confusion, but this is supposed to just be a comment. :)

There are soooo many inept drivers in and about this town that don't have a clue what's going on around them. I ride a motorcycle daily in good weather, and believe me, I see too many idiots....
